The popularity that CO2 has obtained as a refrigerant is due to its very low impact on the environment compared to HFCs. Also, these gases (hydrofluorocarbons) are very limited by current regulations (F-Gas).

CO2 doesn’t have a negative effect on the ozone layer (Ozone Depletion Potential ODP = 0) and has a low effect on global warming (Atmospheric Warming Potential GWP = 1).
