The emblematic Mercado de San Antón is located in the popular Madrid neighbourhood of Chueca. Its origins date back to the 19th century but it did not function as a market until 1945.
In 2007 it was remodelled and in 2011 a new space was inaugurated as we know it, combining market stalls and restaurants. It consists of three levels: on the
1st floor, the traditional market: greengrocers, delicatessen, butchers, fishmongers, etc. On the 2nd floor, 10 gourmet stalls and on the 3rd floor, a terrace-lounge. In 2020, another refurbishment was undertaken, in which INTARCON took part, updating the market’s refrigeration system.
